As a DJ SpliffyB is a DJ/Producer/Artist who plays a very eclectic range of music from blues to Gabber, however he is most commonly known for playing Acid House & Acid Techno. He is known for playing gems that are lesser known as well as extremely well established tracks. He has gone under several names depending on projects he has worked on. i.e. Acid Andy and Black Cat Bone Andy.
24 years since Spliffy Bs 1st gig as promoter and Dj on 30th September 2024. He is proud of what he has achieved over that time.
Over the past 24 years Spliffy B has also been a producer, he has had 7 releases in 2024 alone. Most notably Stay Up Forever Kickstarter EP1, Stay Up Forever Super Limited 036 Welcome to the new normal, Deep Down Dirty releases, Planet Techno 11 in 2017 which was a vinyl release where Biri & The Geezer remixed 2 of his tracks and engineered by Sterling Moss. Spliffy B has also had releases on Wikid Bones Records, Total Loss records which got into the top 2 on 909London charts. He has also had a release on the now defunct Dutch Trance Records.

He started playing free parties when he was at Southampton Institute around Dorset & Hampshire such as Hursley Fields. He didn’t have his own turntables at that stage so was reliant on using friends decks. He learnt a DJ set inside out which I played at any events I played. As his skills developed he played different sets for each gig. From his first DJ set he was promoting events as well as DJing. He also started dabbling with production.
During this time he started doing shoutcast streams with multiple DJs. He used the Institutes online connection as he didn’t have one in his Halls of residence room. There were a number of crews doing the same for a couple of years before.
By 2002 he was playing was playing both clubs and free parties. He was playing a lot of Acid House & Techno, Gabber, Hardcore & Jungle.
Spliffy B moved back to Weymouth in 2003. He only played a few events in Dorset, he played raves in different parts of Dorset and clubs around the country, however mostly in Somerset and across the South West.
In 2004 Spliffy B amongst other events he was promoting he promoted DNA with DJ Slimz. DNA was a hard house and drum n bass event based in the Firestation in Dorchester, Dorset.
Between 2008 and 2011 due to personal reasons he only played a few sets, one of which was on Weymouth Beach. However he was regularly promoting & mixing on radio both online as well as FM & producing and releasing tracks.
In 2010 Spliffy B played 3 sets in an event in Peppermill, Heerlen, Netherlands. He has also played in Belgium, Germany

After 2015 Spliffy B made a slow shift to focusing more on Online radio due to supporting his late wife ongoing health situation. Spliffy B at the moment is completely Online radio, but hopes to venture back into live environments moving forwards. He has played on many online radio events/stations across Europe, America & Asia such as Germanys TNZN, Icelands Reykjavik Underground and more.

In 2017 from an idea that was spawned from his late wife to do a techno fundraver. Wayeta, Ronnie Grafter and Spliffy B hosted the 1st Sick Beatz Fundraver raising money and awareness of MS Society. This is now an annual event which is highly supported in November.
Over the years as well as playing clubs, festivals and free parties he has been very active on the online radio circuit. Over the past 15 years it hasn’t been uncommon for him to be playing 3, 4 or even 5 shows. At times it has been as high as 20 in a week!
Currently Spliffy B has residencies for Reykjavik Undergound & Beyond Control with doing regular DJ sets most notably on Open Source. Spliffy B also promotes events currently Acid Assault which covers all areas of Acid, and Rebellion Techno covering various areas of Techno, Cybercore covering all areas of Hardcore & Gabber, Lucid covering oldskool, Blues shows and more.

Spliffy B still plays clubs and festivals, in 2023 amongst his gigs he played for Working Classtonbury Festival in the Incubator tent, a few weeks later he was playing in Hippos in Swansea

Chris started djing back in 1991 playing his first ever party in a squat in North London (organised with the fledgling Liberator crew featuring himself, Julian and Aaron). Liberator soon made a name for themselves putting on parties in and around North East London in squats and underground venues, and it wasn’t long before they began hooking up with other crews doing similar stuff including Bedlam, Full On, Zero Gravity and Megadog who they all played regularly for with their firebrand mix of Acid, hard Techno and Rave. Getting involved with the illegal raves kicking off in the UK at the time (including Lechlade and Castle Morton) via their numerous traveller connections saw them hook up with crews out in Europe from Prague and Holland and they began travelling internationally as well. In 1993 they began their label Stay Up Forever to represent their own unique style, and as it progressed and they met more producers like DDR, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Gizelle, Geezer and Lawrie Immersion, the sound of London Techno and Acid Techno as we know it was born.
Chris went on to start the SUF Collective (which he runs with Aaron Liberator) and began DJing across the world including places as far flung as Brazil, Venezuela, Japan, South Africa and Australia, and his name quickly became synonymous with the sound of the London Techno he represented. Meanwhile he continued to support his roots playing thousands of squat parties and underground raves in London, UK and Europe, keeping it firmly ‘real’ despite making DJ mag’s top 100 dj list on several occasions and producing some of the era’s most popular Acd Techno mix cds. Musically he has been behind some of the scenes biggest anthems including ONE NIGHT IN HACKNEY (with D.A.V.E.The Drummer), LONDON ACID CITY (with Lawrie Immersion) , CROYDON GIRL (with Sterling Moss and Rackitt), SCUM LIKE US (with Sterling Moss), X RAY OK , SOUL MANTRA and many, many more. Chris was originally a punk on the early eighties Anarcho punk scene and carries his sense of DIY and anti system principles from then, and still plays in 2 punk bands (Dogshite and Hagar The Womb) as well as DJ ing classic punk and reggae sets. Chris still only plays on vinyl and is just as dedicated to his art and philosophy as he was when he started 30 years ago!!!

Playing a mix of US, European and UK techno since way back in the 90’s, London-based Pat Hurley got his first gigs with People 4 People sound system and gone on to play for Unsound, Shtonka, Hardware, The Satellite club, Insanity, Defcom 1, Pendulum, Parallel Youniversity, Megatripolis, Analogue City, Absolute, Redeye, E1 sound, One Louder, Uber, Mindscapes, Techno in the City, Fabric, KSS, Family Groove, Butterfly Effect, Electronic 17, Resonate and Futurist, as well as co-promoting events such as Solution, Beyond and pistonTec.
He’s also played all around the UK including the Glastonbury festival and abroad in France, Holland, Italy, Spain and Japan.
He runs the Open Source record label, on which he releases his own productions as well as tracks from artists such as Mike Humphries, Jeff Amadeus, Maxx, Sunil Sharpe, Tearz, Sebastien Marx, MUtaTe & DistoRt and Fabulous 23s.
He presents the Wired Radio Show on the last Saturday of every month 5pm – 7pm on www.reelrebelsradio.com
