Discover the Essence of London Acid Techno at Stay Up Forever. Dive into the heart of London’s iconic Acid Techno scene with Stay Up Forever, your ultimate online vinyl record store. With a legacy spanning over 26 years, our label and the SUF Collective unite like-minded labels and a vibrant community of musicians and DJs. Immerse yourself in the unique sound of Acid Techno, born from the underground party culture of London
Liberator DJs and Stay Up Forever: The Pioneers of Acid Techno. Founded by the Liberator DJs—Chris, Aaron, and Julian—in 1993, the Stay Up Forever label emerged to encapsulate the sound of London’s burgeoning squat party and underground scene. Their distinctive brand of energetic Acid Techno and Trance set them apart from the slower house and techno or the fast-paced hard trance and gabber that dominated the scene. Their mission was to create the music they wanted to hear in warehouse raves.
Collaborating with producer Paul Harding, the original SUF crew began creating this unique sound, and soon recruited like-minded musicians and DJs like DDR, Lawrie Immersion, and Gizelle. This collective sound evolved into a hybrid of hard acid trance and chunky techno with contributions from artists like D.A.V.E. The Drummer and Geezer. By their 20th release, the SUF label had grown to include notable labels like Routemaster and Smitten, as well as the Liberator’s sister label, Cluster, known for its less acidic warehouse techno.
This growth birthed a collective movement, spawning influential labels such as D.A.V.E. The Drummer’s ‘Hydraulix’, Geezer’s ‘R.A.W.’, Julian Liberator’s ‘4 x 4’, Chris Liberator’s ‘Maximum Minimum’, and Ant’s ‘Powertools’. These labels became the torchbearers of this new Acid Techno sound and movement
