DJ Focus: Techno Steve

Round about 2005 i bought my 1st set of decks and started mixing hard house/trance at house partys normally with my mate MARTIN BRADLEY. I then went on to set up my own club night (All mixed up) at a venue in southampton Finally 2 yrs later i got my first gig away from All mixed up,for another southampton based event called debauchery-by this time not only had my music taste changed but i was also part of a duo known as INFINITE LOOPS! alongside Justin Edwards.(Justin E) The DEBAUCHERY gig went well and although i was by now into techno i was booked as a solo to play a warm up set of hardhouse-and HARD it certainly was! Myself and Justin quickly became main residant djs for DEBAUCHERY headlining most of there events………….banging out HARD/ACID TECHNOOOOOO! We went on to play many other small events over the next couple of yrs mainly around southampton-headlining most of them-with the odd trip to portsmouth. Then in 2010 got our biggest gig to date playing for the now legendary OVERLOAD @ THE FORT for MATT HANDY. That was the highlight but also the end of INFINITE LOOPS! as Justin wanted to move into production and play out less and i just wanted bigger and better gigs! Having played twice @ the FORT i was convinced this was a turning point however this was not the case and it all went abit dead, partly due to an hectic personal life and partly due to myself not promoting myself properly, anyhow after abit of a downer and a lot of moping about i finally decided to pull my socks up and relaunch myself as a solo artist and so was born TECHNO STEVE! After throwing a few demos about i got my comeback gig at a little place in pompey called the barn for an event called TECHNO THERAPY,playing b2b with my old mate MARTIN BRADLEY in the main room with DDR on after us! I returned to the barn for various other events playing alongside the likes of CHRIS LIBERATOR,DDR & DAVE THE DRUMMER and am now the proud new residant for FECTIC MAYHEM @ THE BARN. InBetween all of this i have played for countless internet radio stations inc NARCOTIC RADIO,NTP and most recently DANCETRANSMISSION.COM often joined by housemaster JAMES PIEATERSON. however i have now quit radio to concentrate on my live gigs. Headlining for FECTIC MAYHEM 20TH APRIL 2012 and many more since feeds the hunger for more gigs! Up next in May 2012 was my debut London gig playing alongside Birinight,Acid Steve and Aaron liberator for the mighty smash Techno @ the 414 in Brixton Then a 2 page article written by myself and about my life as a dj and what it means to me was published in an online New forest arts magazine called Park Culture. Its now 2013 and although I still Dj myself I also run a dance tent for an New forest based charity music festival raising funds mainly for local youth causes and regular small dance night style events raising funds for various good causes. 31st 2013 saw the release of my first Tune!- A collab with producer/Dj and label owner Nesbit. Fabulous 23s (real name Joe Young) has been making music since 1988 using analogue synthesizers drum machines 8bit and 16bit computers and samplers. He started DJing in 1992 and in 1995 started playing out spinning at free parties and later DJing and playing live at some of his own with various other artists such as Gaz (the Gareth Wilkins Band), The Gypsies Dog (Glue Rooms), Dannyrind (Bacon) and Jonnispeedbass.

In 1999 he released several mp3s on Terbo Teds Speedbass.com website resulting in tracks been released with Terbo Ted on his album “five” and white label vinyl releases in the USA. He currently has more speedbass tracks circulating then any other artist and has collaborated with artists such as Skeeter, Texas Noise Factory, Jonni Speedbass and Alex Porker. In 2000 Steve Smitten, from London’s famous techno label Smitten, launched his new label XS with 2 Hard Edged acid anthem tracks by the Fabulous 23s – “Over the limit / y2k” which quickly sold out and was repressed, followed by “It’s fucking dark / You’re a victim” and a favourite of Radio One’s Judge Jules, “Ghost town / It’s fucking dark”, which he like so much he used it as the final track of every set of his 2001 tour. Later he remixed for Dave the Drummer on the track “70mph” and amidst of all this he still found time to be playing out live at various raves by Havok / So It Is / Antimatter / Cabbage / NTA amongst others.

after a 13 year break the Fabulous 23s are riding back into town with a new live p.a. featuring new tracks and a few old classics. 303s all the way this is peak time acid to get your party rocking.. contact fabulous23s@gmail to book now.
