Acid / Techno DJ / Producer Focus: D.A.V.E. The Drummer
If you are into the harder end of Techno Music, you may have already come across one of D.A.V.E. The Drummer’s records.
Hailing from the London illegal warehouse party scene that exploded in the 90’s, DJ & producer D.A.V.E. The Drummer started the techno label Hydraulix as an output for his own production ideas. The label intended to bridge the gap between the Acid Techno of his previous productions and a darker form of techno that D.A.V.E. was experimenting with in the studio.
Hydraulix made some big waves in the Hard Techno scene throughout the 2000’s and is still going strong with many of the new releases hitting the top spots in the Beatport Hard Techno Charts.
Tracks from Hydraulix have found their way into the playlists of some of the worlds top DJs as well as keeping a huge following of underground Techno DJs across the globe.
D.A.V.E’s recent music reflects a shift toward a darker stripped back techno sound and the label is still at the forefront of the techno scene winning respect from many DJs and taking on board fresh young artists as well as releasing tracks by seasoned Hydraulix regulars.
Still a hard working DJ and Producer, D.A.V.E. The Drummer is responsible for remixes and productions for many great techno labels including Stay Up Forever, Cluster Smitten, Routemaster, Pounding Grooves, Fine Audio, Eukatech, Noom, Reklusive, Naked Lunch, Phobiq, Elektrax, Resiliant, Refined Format, Techburst and of course Hydraulix, Apex Recordings and Mutate To Survive.

In this new episode of our widely treasured Electronic Beats TV Blind Test series, we dive back into the depths of Acid Techno. Building upon the success of our previous 90’s Techno 303 Edition Blind Test, we proudly present part two, this time with a playlist curated by Oliver Bondzio from Hardfloor.
Joining us is none other than two-time Blind Test winner and Sonic Groove boss Adam X, the UK based Hydraulix founder, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Stefan Robbers, one half of the Dutch duo Acid Junkies, Tel Aviv’s Dasco, Clone Records main man Serge and last but not least, Spanish powerhouse Alienata.
Please note that this video is not filmed in real time. It’s edited to create some tension so that you in front of the screen can guess as well. It doesn’t say anything about how fast the participants recognised the track etc.
All contestants receive one point for both artist and title correct, but only half a point if they can only guess the artist or the title.

ALGORHYTHM E.P. – D.A.V.E The Drummer & Mark E.G.
The duo of Mark EG and D.A.V.E. The Drummer represents something bigger than just making techno tracks together, it is a philosophical statement about the future of art and culture, combined with the early stages of AI. Mark finished a degree course last year and has now undertaken a masters degree in the philosophy of learning and music, this explores AI in depth with its increasing influence on the world of music. Is it a good thing? Do AI influences help us, or will it lead to us churning out bland identikit music? As AI learns the basics of the art but not the subtle differences between what makes something good and interesting and what makes something dull and repetitive, does AI have a real future in the world of art or not? Both Mark and D.A.V.E. are now whats called veterans of the UK techno scene, theyve both been involved in electronic music for over 20 years and both are still busy gigging as DJs and working as music producers/teachers and label managers. This E.P. represents their love for electronic music, techno music in its purest form. It is not trying to play up to the hype charts, or follow the march of ridiculous new social media trends, it is just trying to tell a story with a human touch, using machines as the voice. We hope you enjoy listening to this E.P. as much as we did making i*739…bleep…zz..fixx.x..error.3560.system shutting down..end of line
