The REBEL YELLE SHOW is back in full force this month celebrating INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S WEEK with special guest DJ and promoter LOUISE+1. Louise came to play on the show two years ago… so I’m very happy to have her back in the studio on the wheels of steel, spinning some quality Old Skool Techno sounds from her amazing collection of vinyl. This woman is a true dedicated spirit when it comes to the London underground dance music scene as both DJ and promoter. She never stops believing and is always hunting for proper old skool gems, so be prepared for a quality selection of music. Enjoy….

*LOUISE+1 *

Louise+1 has built up her solid reputation as a cutting edge underground DJ artist in London and the UK playing a selection of Acid House, Old Skool Hardcore, Techno and Jungle.

Louise has made her name not only as a great DJ playing a broad range of quality old skool sounds, but also as someone who believes in the music and who is very productive promoting underground parties showcasing the best of Underground Old Skool dance.

In the mid-late 90’s Louise began her journey playing for ‘Shtonka’ sound system in London and soon progressed to playing for a number of different promoters on the scene. But it wasn’t long before she began her mission to bring the best of underground old skool sounds to the foreground amongst the new music by promoting her own parties showcasing this particular music from the late 80s to early 90’s. She began this mission with her ‘ReRaveAll’ party nights in the late 90’s – one of these successful ‘ReRaveAll’ events was held at the legendary old skool nightclub the ‘Dungeons’ in Lea Bridge Road, London, which showcased artists such as Jerome Hill, Woody McBride, Chase & Status, The Surgeon, 2 Bad Mice and Top Buzz.

Nowadays… Louise+1 plays on OriginUK, one of the largest underground radio stations playing on Thursday mornings on the Let the Bass Kick show. She is a promoter and resident at ‘DISTANT PLANET’, which is run by a collective of like minded highly experienced and knowledgeable sound, music and party individuals coming together to deliver quality party nights, plus bringing together the best communal music collection ever. It really is a night worth checking out!

* LEYLA P *

Leyla P is an up and coming female force behind the decks currently playing Techno and Acid Techno on the London underground party circuit. But her passion for music and DJ’ing began way back in the early 90’s, playing old skool hardcore every Sunday on the pirate radio station Energy FM based in south London.

These DJ Sunday sessions lasted two years, 1992-1994, and soon led her to play on the London free party scene circuit in the mid to late 90’s for sound systems such as Vox Populi (one of the original free party sound systems), Underground Sounds and Manik.

Around this time, she also played old skool hardcore at a couple of Spiral Tribe parties and had a guest slot playing at Turnmills night club, which was buzzing in the late 90’s.

After a few twists and turns in life, Leyla moved to Spain and went in a different direction. But over the years that DJ itch kept returning and on her return to the UK, Leyla finally rekindled her passion for the music and returned to the wheels of steel.

Over the last year she has been back on the London underground party circuit spinning vinyl nearly every weekend for sound systems such as E1S and Hackney Sounds and loving every minute!!
