thatboytim – a recent blow-in to the London scene – Tim first made his mark co-founding Takeover Records in Belfast circa 2000. (laterly Takeover Recordings – http://takeoverrecordings.bandcamp.com/ ) Fuelled by a healthy distaste for the middle-of-the-road staleness prevalent at the time the crew looked to Detroit Electro, Chicago jack trax and DIY punk attitude for inspiration – concucting a brew of bass, broken beats that we’re picked up on by the likes of 2 Lone swordsmen, Decal, Paula Temple and Laurent Garnier.
Tim spent 2000-2013 in Dublin – enjoying the superior record shopping and developing as a gigging dj. From the techno/bass parties of Electric City and Kaboogie to festivals such as Sibin and Electric Picnic to support slots alongside Legowelt, Kid 606 and The Orb and a 9 year residency at busy city centre bar Hogans it’s fair to say that a lot of ground has been covered.
Alongside fellow Dublin DJ Platinum Ray Tim set up BOP GUN in 2012 – an event exploring the funk-time continuum with a heavy nod to the influence of George Clinton. Tim is now running BOP GUN parties in London with their debut being made at Finsbury Park’s Silver Bullet last month.
